Kamille Saabre apple paintings were selected to be part of THE EIGHTH BEIJING INTERNATIONAL ART BIENNALE, CHINA 2019. 300x300cm size painting consists of nine separate apple paintings and for together artwork called: “Complete differences. Differences complete.”
The idea behind these realistic apple paintings is to see the differences not as a cause of strife and disagreement but of deeper need for each-other. If in my faultiness I lack something and the person in his/her faultiness compensates what I do not have, then there is a deep need for each-other.
The painting is accompanied with the text:
I’m leaving you because you’re not like me.
You don’t think like me. You don’t speak like me. You don’t do as I do. You could be like me. Then it would be easy to be by your side.
There would be no need to talk, because we would think like me. No arguments, because we would do things my way. No fights, because we would see things my way. We would understand each other, because we would feel like I do.
No. I’m not leaving you because you’re not like me.
You don’t think like me. You don’t speak like me. You don’t do as I do. I don’t want you to be me. You are you. It’s better to be by your side this way. We have something to talk about because you think like you. And I think like me. There are things to discover, because you do things your way, and I do them my way. We have reasons to be curious, because you see things your way and I see them my way. We have compassion, because you feel like you do and I feel like I do. We draw to each other, because I have need for your forgiveness and you have need for mine.
I’m leaving my side to come closer to you. You leave your side to come closer to me. In our differences we are complete.
